Kootenay Child Development Centre

A hub of child development and health services

This 14,000 square foot, accessible downtown location is home to child health and development services. Services are offered by both CCS and partners. This co-location benefit families through increased coordination efficient referrals and case conferencing, and shared training opportunities.
Kootenay Child Development Centre opened in April 2012, after 3 years of focused fundraising, planning and construction.

The following are the community partners with whom we share this space and a philosophy of collaborative service delivery.

We provide quality medical care for children ages birth to 18. Patients are seen only by referral from their primary care provider; walk-ins are not accepted. Also home to the Eating Disorder Clinic.

Interior Health Speech & Language Patholgy – interiorhealth.ca

Speech-language pathology for children ages 0-5 with referral from parent, physician or community contact.

Occupational Therapy (OT): Works with children ages 0-18 to improve participation of activities of daily living in the home, school and community: self-care, fine motor & play skills, sensory processing, and access/equipment needs.

Physiotherapy (PT): Works with children ages 0-5 to develop movement skills like crawling and walking, improve mobility and improve function at home, school, and on the playground.

Assists families living in the East Kootenays who are unable to meet exceptional medical costs related to the needs of their child (up to 19 years of age).
