East Kootenay Infant Development Program

Supporting development in children ages 0 to 3 in the East Kootenay

East Kootenay Infant Development Program (EKIDP) provides information, resources and support for families who have a child between birth and 3 years of age who: 

  • has a diagnosed disability,
  • is experiencing a developmental delay,
  • or is at risk for developmental delay.

Services:

  • Support for parents and families, the most important influences in a child’s life
  • Home visits to encourage development and build parent/caregiver confidence
  • Cooperate to identify family-specific needs
  • Develop new activities
  • Provide information about child development topics
  • Provide developmental monitoring and/or assessments and written reports
  • Consultation and referral to other Early Intervention and Therapy services as needed or requested by family
  • Offer resource lending library access
  • Assist with preschool or childcare planning and transitions
  • Arrange parenting and/or play groups with other families

 

This service is free, voluntary, and confidential.

How It Works

Referred families will be contacted by a consultant who will arrange a visit at home or elsewhere. The consultant will work with you on a plan and schedule that is best for you and your family. Visits can be arranged outside of regular program hours.

Radium, Invermere, Kimberley, Cranbrook, Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford and surrounding East Kootenay communities.
